About Jackie Matjasec

After more than a decade in financial planning and financial literacy education, I saw the same problem again and again: people were expected to manage money before anyone had properly shown them how.

The Simple Budget was created to change that.

Making everyday money skills simple, practical and useful for real life.

Hi, I’m Jackie Matjasec, founder of The Simple Budget.

I help individuals, young people, NDIS participants, small business owners and community organisations build practical money skills without jargon, shame or overwhelm.

The problem I solve

Most people are expected to manage money before anyone has properly shown them how.

They are handed bills, bank accounts, payslips, tax, super, debt, business expenses and everyday money decisions, then left to figure it out as they go.

When money feels messy, stressful or confusing, people often assume they are the problem.

But most people are not bad with money. They were simply never taught in a practical, useful and easy-to-follow way.

That is the problem The Simple Budget exists to solve.

The idea I stand for

Money can feel overwhelming when no one has slowed down to explain it properly.

People are expected to manage bills, banking, pay, tax, super, debt, business expenses, NDIS decisions and everyday spending choices, often without a simple system to follow.

Most people are not bad with money. They were never taught money in a way that made sense.

That is the problem The Simple Budget exists to solve.

Money skills should be practical, respectful and built for real life.
