Saving money can feel hard — not because people don’t want to save, but because it’s often made more complicated than it needs to be.

A while ago, I created this $1,000 savings tracker as a simple, visual way to make saving feel doable. Over the years, I’ve handed out hundreds of printed copies at workshops and community events, and many more have been downloaded online. It’s one of those tools people keep coming back to because it’s easy to understand and easy to stick with.
How this savings tracker works
Each time you save, you colour in a dollar amount on the tracker. There’s no right or wrong order — you just save what you can, when you can, and slowly watch it add up.
Some people save weekly, some monthly, and some just colour one in whenever they get the chance. All of it counts.
If you’re downloading it digitally, I always suggest printing it out and putting it somewhere you’ll actually see it every day — on the fridge, on your desk, or even on the back of the toilet door. Wherever your eyes land regularly.
I often explain it like a jigsaw puzzle. If there’s a puzzle half done on the dining table, every time you walk past it you can’t help yourself — you stop and see if you can put in one or two more pieces. This tracker works the same way. When you see it daily, it quietly nudges you to keep going.
That visual progress really matters.
What are you saving for?
There’s space on the tracker to write down what you’re saving for — whether that’s a buffer, a holiday, or just a bit more breathing room. Having a reason makes saving feel more meaningful and less like a chore.
I like printable trackers because they’re tangible. No apps, no spreadsheets, no logins — just a simple tool you can use at your own pace.
This savings tracker has been used in workshops and community sessions across South East Queensland.
Free download — no email required
This savings tracker is free to download, and there’s no email required. No sign-ups, no follow-up emails — just something practical you can use straight away.
If saving a little more money is one of your goals this year, I hope this helps.
Happy saving 🤍
